Terri Haddix, M.D.
Forensic Pathologist

Dr. Haddix has worked in the area of forensic pathology for over 20 years. She received forensic pathology training in Seattle, WA and neuropathology training at Stanford. She is board certified in anatomic, forensic and neuropathology. She has performed forensic autopsies in several counties throughout California and has testified as an expert in forensic pathology in both criminal and civil cases.

Our Biology/DNA Team

Nancy Dinh, M.S.
DNA Forensic Scientist

Ms. Dinh joined Forensic Analytical sciences in August 2015. She specializes in screening and examining physical evidence for human biological material. Post-screening analysis includes sample preparation, extraction, concentration, quantification, amplification, and genetic interpretation of DNA samples using autosomal (Identifiler and MiniFiler) and y-chromosomal (Yfiler) PCR-based techniques, as well as capillary electrophoresis. She also participated in the internal validation of several DNA methodologies, including the Qiagen EZ1 Advanced XL Robot, the Quantifiler Duo DNA Quantification Kit, and the 3500 Genetic Analyzer. She has experience in the examination of evidence in civil and criminal cases and is available for consultation and review of other expert work

David Hansen, M.S.
DNA Forensic Scientist

Mr. Hansen joined Forensic Analytical in December 2012. He specializes in the examination of physical evidence for human biological material and the isolation, extraction, quantification, amplification, and STR genetic analysis of DNA using state-of-the-art PCR-based autosomal (Identifiler) and y-chromosome (Yfiler) STR analysis via capillary electrophoresis. He has experience in the examination of evidence from both criminal and civil casework.

C. Alan Keel, B.S.
DNA Section Technical Leader

Mr. Keel is responsible for consultative, analytical, and expert witness testimony services on a wide variety of cases involving biological material. He has been performing traditional serological and DNA investigations in forensic casework and providing expert testimony for over 30 years. He possesses extensive knowledge and experience in physical evidence examination, biological material isolation, and its subsequent DNA analysis and interpretation utilizing the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of short tandem repeat (STR) genes.

Lilia Patiño, B.S.
DNA Forensic Scientist

Ms. Patiño joined Forensic Analytical Sciences in August 2015. She specializes in the examination of physical evidence for human biological materials, and DNA extraction, concentration, quantification, amplification, and analysis using PCR-based autosomal (Identifiler and MiniFiler), and y-chromosome (Yfiler) STR genes via capillary electrophoresis. Ms. Patiño is also available for consultation and testimony regarding the review of other expert work. She has personally conducted internal validations of DNA analysis methodologies, and has practical crime scene examination experience.

Peter Barnett, B.S., D-ABC
Senior Forensic Scientist

Mr. Barnett has over 40 years experience in forensic science. He recently was co-founder and partner in Forensic Science Associates for more than 30 years prior to merging that firm with ours. He is experienced in the examination and analysis of physical evidence including field and laboratory examination of all types of physical evidence and has also investigated a wide variety of types of crime and accident scenes. He is court qualified as an expert witness throughout the State of California as well as in Nevada, Texas, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma and Hawaii as well Federal & military courts. He is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Criminalistics and a fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Science.

Kenton Wong, M.A., D-ABC
Senior Forensic Scientist

Kenton Wong has over 25 years experience in forensic science with city and county law enforcement agencies. He is court qualified in many areas of forensic science, including crime scene reconstruction, firearms and toolmarks, bloodstain pattern analysis, arson accelerant examinations, blood alcohol analysis and interpretation, controlled substances, and toxicology and has testified internationally in Hong Kong and Italy. Mr. Wong holds a B.S. in Environmental Toxicology and a Masters Degree in Biological Sciences. He is also a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Criminalistics (D-ABC), a licensed Clinical Toxicologist, a Distinguished Member of the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) and a board certified Crime Scene Investigator (CCSI) of the International Association for Identification. Currently Mr. Wong serves as the chairman of the Forensic Alcohol Advisory Committee for the California Association of Criminalists and on the California State Department of Public Health's Forensic Alcohol Review Committee.

Katherine Raven, M.D.
Senior Forensic Pathologist

Dr. Raven has worked in the area of forensic pathology for over 19 years. Dr. Raven received her forensic pathology training in Seattle, WA at the King County Medical Examiner's Office. Dr. Raven also did a year of neuropathology training at the University of Washington in Seattle. She is board certified in anatomic, clinical, and forensic pathology. Dr. Raven has personally performed over 4500 forensic autopsies and has extensive experience in court testimony in both criminal and civil cases.

Tisa Baumgartner, B.S.
Forensic Toxicologist

Ms. Baumgartner specializes in performing blood alcohol analysis, drug screening & confirmation of blood & urine evidence, & solid dose narcotics analysis. She is court qualified for blood alcohol analysis in Alameda & San Francisco Counties. She also has training in clothing examination & biological fluid identification, and has assisted other forensic scientists with scene examinations.

Judith Stewart, B.A.

Ms. Stewart has over forty years experience in forensic toxicology including over eight years experience as a laboratory director. She is court qualified in many areas of forensic science, including blood alcohol analysis and interpretation, blood and urine analysis and interpretation and analysis of controlled substances. Ms Stewart has testified as an expert witness in forensic toxicology in both criminal and civil cases.
